I remember my first visit to the U.S. from England in the early '90s. Back then, England was all about tea and instant coffee, so stepping into my first American coffee shop was eye-opening. It had rustic brick walls, wooden furniture, and an aroma I’ll never forget. That first fresh, ground, and brewed cup blew my mind—so full of flavor, depth, and even notes of blueberry and vanilla. I thought my cousin was crazy describing flavor notes, but he was right. And then—free refills? I was hooked.
Years passed, and sadly, those small artisan cafés faded as big coffee chains took over, turning coffee into just another commodity. Eventually, I got used to the routine: grab a cup, get to work. Coffee became a habit, not an experience.
Then one day, I saw someone roasting beans in a frying pan on YouTube. Something clicked. I ordered green beans online, waited 12 long days, and tried roasting them in a cast iron skillet. Total failure—but I was hooked. I moved on to hand-crank popcorn poppers (went through 8 of them), then found a local roaster with a warehouse full of green beans and walked out with 60 pounds and my first real roasting machine.
I experimented, learned, and roasted weekly—just for myself, my wife, and a few friends. I couldn’t drink commercial coffee anymore. That’s when I met Jason, another home roaster with a passion for flavor. We joked about starting a business, but one day we prayed—and both got a clear sign to go for it.
That’s how Franch Coffee Roasters was born. We're here to bring back what coffee was meant to be: an experience. From opening the bag and smelling the beans, to a slow pour-over or French press, coffee should be savored—with friends, family, or coworkers—connecting over a cup with real depth and real flavor.

I started roasting coffee in 2016 simply because I had the chance to try something new and fun. What began as a casual hobby quickly turned into a bit of an obsession. As I learned more about where coffee comes from, how to source quality beans, and how my roasts compared to big brands like Starbucks, my curiosity only deepened. I became fascinated with the process and the science behind every roast.
Fast forward seven years—I met my now-business partner Paul through our church small group. We quickly discovered that we shared a passion for roasting coffee and geeking out over the details most people overlook. What started as lighthearted conversations about starting a roasting business soon turned into something real. We prayed about it every step of the way, and doors kept opening. Before long, Franch Coffee Roasters was born.
Everything just came together naturally, and we truly believe God’s hand was in it from the beginning.
